PURPOSE

The Black Mecca Project (TBMP) exists in the tradition of African people and African descended people who have always fought for liberation and resisted colonization and white supremacy. Surviving and resisting the white supremacist capitalist hetero-patriarchy is vital yet also drains our energy and often limits our visions of liberation to the confines of current structures, systems, and culture.

The Black Mecca Project cultivates spaces which nurture Black diasporans in the practices of rest, radical imagination, fugitivity, and Black feminist community/world building. We believe these are essential and under-resourced strategies in the Black liberation ecosystem.

VISION

We are dreaming of an intercommunal network of radical Black diasporic freedom dreamers in land/nature-based liberated sites and zones across the world.

Trauma and the ongoing traumas of oppression can keep us hypervigilant, limiting our ability to dream and vision. Believing we can conjure new worlds is part of how we heal our relationship to imagination and creation.
